Malaysia truly Asia! so the tag line goes, and it’s certainly possible to get a snapshot of quite a variety of Asia without leaving Malaysia. The country is a mixture of Malay, Chinese and Indian with each bringing its culture to the country. The old colonial past is there to see in towns such as Malacca and Penang, with there old crumbling facades. The future is brash and for those in charge undoubtedly muslim, it’s common to see ornately designed Mosques in Malaysia, or perhaps buildings that were inspired by islamic architecture. The dominant cultures you’ll see as a visitor though are the Chinese and Indian, with there respective holidays and festivals playing a big part in Malaysian life.

Highlights

Penang - Georgetown is full of character, the people are so nice, and the food is also amazing.

The Perhentian islands - Tropical islands in paradise, not much more to say.

Petronas towers - One of Asia’s most iconic buildings, also part of the massive KLCC shopping mall.

The cameron highlands - One of the worlds largest tea plantations, there must be a lot of thirsty brits!
