Fire

Sulphur mine

As a photographer I’m always looking to tell a story with my work, sometimes the story finds you though and in those situations you need to be ready to shoot at any time. When I shoot for news related photos I always look to tell the story of the scene, but at the same time keep to my own style of photos. A good combination of compelling camera angles and a strong story is the best way to have that photo that tells a 1000 words.

Sulphur mine - This set of images was produced at the Kawah Ijen sulphur mine, I’m far from the first person to cover this locations as a photojournalist, and the story of the mine and the miners is a compelling one. You can see the photo essay on this location on my published articles section of this website.

Fire - In any photojournalism awareness and speed are two important things to have. This fire was in the town where I live, and I spotted the smoke, and headed there as quickly as I could to capture these images. The fire engines where still arriving as I set up to shoot this set of images.
